In memory of our dear beloved Uncle Joseph W. Arnold, who departed February 3, 1924:
We miss thee among our friends, dear uncle,
We miss thee from thy place,
A shadow o’er our life is cast.
We miss the sunshine of thy face.
We miss thy kind and loving hand,
Thy fond and earnest care,
Thy home is dark without thee,
We miss you everywhere.
Dear uncle how we miss you
God in heaven alone can tell;
We look around they lonely home
We see they vacant chair
Where oft you sat with listening face
When your loved ones told you of their care.
But, now alas, with sorrowing hearts,
Through life’s dark vales we tread,
One of the dearest to us
Lies numbered with the dead.
–His niece, Mrs. Omer Taylor.
