Conway, Dudley B.

DUDLEY B. CONWAY, merchant, P. O. Oddville. Miles Conway, father of this gentleman, was born in Fayette County, near Lexington, in the year 1792; his father, John Conway, and his mother, Elizabeth, were natives of Virginia. The mother of our subject, Dudley (Berry) Conway, was the daughter of Geo. W. Berry, a native of Virginia; she was born in Kentucky in 1799 and died in 1823. Miles died in 1864. They were the parents of three children, of whom was our subject, Dudley B. He was born in Mason County, KY., Sept. 26, 1820. At the age of fifteen he commenced business for himself by farming in his native county, which he continued until 1839, when he commenced in the milling business; in 1861 he removed to Harrison County, where he continued the milling business until 1865, when he again resumed the occupation of farming, continuing the same until 1878, when he embarked in mercantile business, which he still continues at Oddville. In Harrison County, Feb. 26, 1861, he married Miss Margaret M. Haviland, the daughter of Robt. S. and Mary C. (Stuart) Haviland. She was born in Harrison COunty, April 17, 1835. They are the parents of three children, viz: Robt. H., Fanny P. and William E. His wife is a member of the Beaver Baptist Church, and he is an A. F. & A. M., Thos. Ware Lodge, No. 340, of Claysville, and in politics is a Republican.
